Saturday morning journal: Labor Day weekend

The sun isn't even fully up yet this morning.  The alarm was set for 6:30 but I woke up early and decided not to wait for it.  When I think of the days I used to sleep in till 10 or later, I have to laugh.  I can't stand to stay in bed late anymore.

The alarm was set so I can get my boy up and out early today.  This morning he is off to work on a fellow Boy Scout's Eagle project.  I love these projects; I love seeing young men working together.  I love my son engaging in some good physical labor, during Labor Day weekend or at any other time.

This week I received a nice surprise from my friend G at Explorations in Learning:  3 blog awards!  Fun!  You don't see them yet because I am having trouble getting the images over here. My lack of technical skill is amazing! I will persevere (and seek help) so they should be up later.

One of the challenges of living in a small house is the need for quiet.  I enjoy being up while everyone else is asleep but sometimes I don't spend my time well because I don't want to wake everyone else up.  My natural inclination in the morning is to start banging around in the kitchen!  Or starting laundry.  All noisy.  So I read, pray, knit, blog.  Sometimes I slip out for a long walk with the dog.

What do you do when you're up before everyone else?   Join me this Saturday morning!
